Redact PDF
Black out sensitive areas and remove matching keywords from PDF content
Select or drop a PDF to redact
Black out sensitive areas and remove matching keywords from the PDF content. A blackout box covers the text under it but does not delete that text.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is redaction permanent?
Not in every case. A blackout box covers the page, but the text beneath it stays in the file. Keyword removal only catches plain text in the page content, so text in some fonts or embedded forms can remain.
Can someone copy the redacted text?
Possibly. Text under a blackout box can still be copied or extracted. Search the output for the names and numbers you redacted before you share it.
How do I make sure nothing is left?
Convert the PDF to images with PDF to Image, then rebuild a PDF from them with Image to PDF. The result has no text layer, so nothing underneath can be copied, but the pages can no longer be searched.
Does my sensitive data leave my computer?
Never. The redaction logic runs completely inside your browser client.
